Originally created by prominent Brighton and Hove Green Party member Anthea Ballam, Martin Grimshaw and Kat Neeser brought it out of hibernation and developed the formula. Together with Ian Lawton as well as many other great volunteers over a few years, Martin grew it into a popular and influential regular forum on broad green issues. An unsuccesful attempt was made to formalise and further develop it as a FutureInFocus project, in partnership with Brighton and Hove Green Party, and events came to an end around 2011 in that incarnation. Events in the name of Greenspeak were being held sporadically in Brighton for a while, organised by others, but seem to have tailed off.
